Here’s an interesting observation.
Although carpet cleaning prices haven’t increased much over the years (in fact, in our surveys it shows they went down a bit in the past few years), minimum prices seem to have risen quite a bit.
What have you done with your minimum price over the years? Have they gone down, remained the same, gone up? |

My minimum's went up over the years, but so did my prices.
1968 $49
1983 - 1989 (Approx) $59
1990 - 2002 (approx) $69 localy with higher minimums for customers a greater distance out.
2002 - 2005 $79
Don't clean many carpets now. When I do, it is usually for free.

For our local folks, home to 40,000, we charge $70. If we are going to our 1.8 million person neighboring city it is $100 minimum.
On a side note I think we are going to go up a little more come first of the year.

- Currently $75.00. But looking at 100.00. Especially since my appliance repairman charges that. And I carry in a lot more equipment than he does.

- Our min price has gone up over the years. Currently we have a tiered pricing structure for our min charge. Right in town is $100. Traveling further out in our service area, the min charge increases to a max of $140. Same price per sq ft to all areas.

- $100 local minimum as an owner operator with no employee. The further out I go the minimum climbs to $125, then to $150, then to $200. I ususally don't get any further away than that.

- Currently $80 been at this amount for four years. For good regular customers no charge for an emergency spot ect. I have had this pay off well for referals. If I have to travel more than 20 miles than the minimum is $120
